Helo bawb! Hello everyone!
Well, we can't believe that we have reached our final half term in Year 3 already. Time certainly flies when you're having fun!
A few dates for your diaries:
Please continue to send your children in with PE kit EVERY DAY as we are having sports day practices frequently now in the run-up to sports day.
Mrs Westlake and Mrs Williams
Croeso nol! Welcome back!
We can't believe that we have reached the Summer term already. How time flies! We have a short but busy half term before our final half term before we begin Year 4!
We are busy preparing for our National Tests which take place this week (Reading test, Wednesday), next week (Reasoning test, Tuesday) and next week and the following week (Procedural tests, scheduled to be taken individually on the computer).
This term we are learning about our local area of Creigiau and will be planning trips around the village to study how our village has changed over time and to do a traffic survey. We will also make a pond study and hope to have a trip to go pond dipping in order to learn more about the wildlife that lives in Welsh ponds.
As always, reading books are changed every Monday. Please ensure you read with your child on a weekly basis and sign their Reading Record book to confirm this. Reading books and reading record books are taken home every night and should be returned to school every morning. Homework goes home on a Friday and should be returned on either Monday or Tuesday the following week.
Many thanks, and enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend,
Mrs Westlake and Miss Williams
Just a reminder that we have our trip to Margam Park tomorrow to experience life as a Celtic child!
Fingers crossed for good weather! Many thanks in advance to our parent helpers who are able to come along for the day.
See you tomorrow,
We have another busy and exciting week to look forward to. We will be undertaking our Sponsored Maths challenges, so ensure you have asked as many family members as possible to sponsor you. Our focus is using Inverse Operations to check back addition and subtraction questions. Eg, If 96-38=58, check it is correct by adding: 58+38=96. Our challenge day will be Tuesday, so get busy practising!
We are greatly looking forward to performing our Class Assembly to family and friends on Friday 22nd March at 9.15am. Try to learn your lines if you have an acting part. Please wear your clothes for the assembly to school on Friday. The children know what they are wearing. Narrators can wear jeans and a tshirt or can dress as Celts. Celts may wear a long tshirt or dress as a tunic with striped, checked or plain trousers or leggings. A small blanket or cloak is optional. If you have Celtic-style jewellery (nothing expensive) that we may borrow, we would be grateful. Many thanks!
We enjoyed swimming last week in Fairwater Leisure Centre and we all improved our swimming! Well done, one and all!
Welcome back! Croeso nol!
It has been lovely to welcome everyone back to school for the Spring term and to hear all your holiday news. We are very lucky as we have not one but two new Class 3 members this term. Well done to both of you for settling so quickly and thank you to the rest of you who have been friendly, kind and welcoming to them.
We have another busy term planned. We are learning about the Iron Age Celts and have already learnt about the roundhouses they built and where they would build them. We will find out a lot more about the Celts before the end of term!
We are working on learning our 4x table, both in and out of order, and revising our 3x table. We will use these facts to learn more about multiplying and dividing, so spend a little time each day practising them. Ask someone at home to test you!
We have our Eisteddfod before half term, and another Love for Learning week where we will learn more about Wales. We will be celebrating Urdd Day on January 25th, which is Dydd Santes Dwynwen - Dwynwen's Day. Dwynwen is the patron saint of love in Wales so Dydd Santes Dwynwen is like a Welsh St Valentine's Day. We are learning to say her story, with actions.
Warburton's will visit us on February 7th to help us design and make a healthy sandwich, and we also have our Class Assembly after half term. We have such a lot to look forward to!
Mrs Westlake and Miss Williams
Bring your reading books, reading record books and pencil case to school EVERY day.
Keep up the good work! Gweithiwch yn galed! :)
