Class 3: Mrs Westlake & Mrs Mullett

Happy New Year, Everybody!

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda, Bawb!

We hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy holiday with your families.

We are looking forward to seeing you online this week on our live lessons on Teams!

Please remember that you have to attend the morning meeting at 10.15am. However, you do not have to attend the afternoon meeting.

We have a brand new theme of The Celts to learn about! We will also be discussing New Year's Resolutions and will ask you to make your own for the New Year!

We're looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Best wishes,

Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullettlaughwink

Thank you so much for your kind and generous gifts to us. We were extremely touched by your generosity. It is a pleasure to teach your children and we are very pleased with how hard they have worked this term. Da iawn wir, bawb! Very well done to you all! You all deserve a restful break.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year.

Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i chi gyd.

Best wishes,

Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullettlaughwink

Helo bawb! Hello everyone!

We will be home learning on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week (16th, 17th, 18th December). There will be two Teams meetings each day. The first is compulsory for all and a register will be taken. This meeting is at 10.15am and will last for around 30 minutes. The second meeting is at 1.15pm and is an optional meeting for a short time only. It will be to answer any queries you may have about the day's learning.

Please turn your microphones OFF when you are in a Teams meeting. This avoids a lot of background noise which disturbs the meeting. You may leave your cameras on if you wish. You may use the Hand button if you have a question. This is like raising your hand in class. We can then ask you what you wish to say.

On Wednesday your main task will be to make Christmas biscuits! You will of course need adult help for this task. You will need:

150g plain flour

50g caster sugar

100g butter

mixing bowl

baking tray

fork

cooling rack

Optional extras: biscuit cutters, icing sugar, food colouring.

You will need to get the ingredients and equipment ready in advance. If you wish to read through the recipe beforehand, see the PowerPoint on Teams in Files in a folder called Blended Learning Wed 16th Dec.

We're looking forward to seeing you all online next week from Wednesday onwards! Of course, we have two more days of fun to look forward to before that. Don't forget your treats snack box and party clothes for Tuesday!

Best wishes,

Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullettlaughwink

Helo bawb! Hello everyone!

The children were all little superstars today for the recording of our Christmas play! Well done, everyone - da iawn, bawb! Login to Hwb and go to Teams to see our little drama. It is in two parts and can be found in Files under Christmas Play Dec 20. Enjoy! Here are some photographs to whet your appetite.

Bore da, bawb,

Well, December is upon us already. Tinsel, the mischievous class elf is back once more, sprinkling his Christmas magic upon everyone in Class 3. He is on the lookout for good girls and boys so he can report back good news to Father Christmas. However, don't tell Tinsel but we've heard a rumour that we're all on the good list this year!

We have a short Christmas Play which we will record for you on Wednesday 9th December. On that day, children should wear Christmas clothes or party clothes to school. They will be in these clothes all day so they need to be comfy and practical. No costumes will be needed if your child has a character part. Trousers/skirt and a Christmas jumper will be fine, or whatever you have at home.

We have a Christmas Party Day on Tuesday 15th December. Again, children may wear comfy, practical Christmas/party clothes. Please provide your child with a 'treats' Christmas snackbox (for their own consumption) to add to that 'party' atmosphere! The treats snackbox will be in addition to their usual lunch and will be eaten during the afternoon. There will be Christmas craft, some party games and maybe even a film to round the afternoon off.

Best wishes,

Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullettlaughwink

Bore da bawb, Good morning everyone,

We hope you've all had a happy and safe Bonfire Night. Why not tell us all about it, and upload a photograph of yourself using the Mashcam, on one of this week's Purple Mash to-dos? There are lots of other activities for you to enjoy, too, including the last instalment of Animal Boy to read and a book review to complete. There are also money and grammar to-dos this week, as well as other activities. Next week we'll have a new task on Teams to get our teeth into so get your Hwb login details ready for that!

We really appreciated our Bullies Out online session in class on Tuesday this week. It made us think about how to be safe when we are online, as well as helping us with friendships in and out of school. Thank you to everyone in the Bullies Out team for putting together such an excellent presentation for us.

Next week is Politeness Week in Class 3 as we move onto our 7th Creigiau School Value, so give your manners a good polish over the weekend and bring them sparkling to school with you on Monday!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullett  smileywink

Helo bawb! Hello everybody!

We have finally reached the end of our first half term in Key Stage 2! How quickly those 8 weeks have gone. You have all worked extremely hard and have made good progress, especially with reading and number work, and you have also gained in confidence. Da iawn, Criw Class 3! Well done, Class 3 Crew!

You all deserve a whole week off, which means - NO HOMEWORK! So no new tasks will be set on Purple Mash or Teams. However, for those of you who wish to do some activities there are assignments on Teams for you to complete (see the last post for more information) and you may select your own choice of activities on Purple Mash. Click on Games to find some cool maths games or Serial Mash to find a book to read.

Try to read at home every day and get some fresh air and exercise daily. However, remember not to meet up with anyone outside of your household bubble as we are all locked down for a fortnight.

Have a lovely week off, and we will see you on November 2nd.

Best wishes,

Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullett winklaugh

Helo bawb!

We cannot believe that we are nearly at the end of our first half term in Year 3! Where have those weeks gone? Time certainly flies when you are busy and having fun!

We are learning lots about our theme of The Human Body. We have studied the skeleton, joints, teeth and the circulatory system. This week will learn more about our organs. You have been completing lots of Purple Mash homework to reinforce our theme - da iawn, bawb! We also are enjoying a Techniquest Human Body online event. Many thanks to Techniquest for supplying a super free video plus resources.

Most of you are working very hard on Purple Mash and we can see that you are enjoying the games, quizzes and written challenges that we put up as 'to-dos'. We also have Assignments for you to complete on Teams. The best way to access Teams is to download the Teams App and login with your Hwb account details. Alternatively, you may log in to your Hwb account and access Teams through Outlook (click the 'waffle' at the top left of the screen and select Teams). You may edit the assignments and submit them once you have finished by first clicking 'Close' and then 'Hand In': both are found at the top right of the screen. There are also Files stored on Teams, but unless you are at home on a school day for any reason you do not need to access these.

We are very impressed with how well you are working on your times tables and how you have remembered the column addition method from Year 2. Gwaith da, bawb - good work, everyone! We will continue with this this week. We will also begin writing a formal letter based on 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons' as a Teams Assignment in class on Tuesday. This letter can be finished at home if you wish.

Best wishes,

Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullett smileylaugh

Class 3 Sports Afternoon - the sun shone and we loved the races! Hwyl a sbri yn yr haul!

Helo/Hello, Class 3!

Well done to you all for settling in so well during your first weeks in school. You have learnt the routines and are all trying very hard in lessons. What a fantastic start to the term! Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullet are both very proud of you. yesyes

We have an exciting week ahead as we have our Class Sponsored Sports Day on Monday 21st September! You may wear your PE kit to school on that day. We look forward to an afternoon of games and activities and the best news is that everyone will have a specially-designed certificate for taking part! Hooray! Due to the current situation we do not want to send too many items home from school so you will stick your certificate in your Wellbeing book in class. However, you may wish to print a certificate so that you have a copy at home. A PDF for printing is on the class page. Fingers crossed now for some good weather!

On Tuesday 29th September we will have an ICT day in class. You will all have the opportunity to use a laptop to access and use your Hwb account and to send and receive emails from/to your teachers and classmates. We will also be using Microsoft Teams. You will take your own Hwb login details home. We look forward to a day of learning and technology fun.

Remember to read every day at home and to use your Purple Mash account to do your homework to-dos. This week we have spellings, work on chapter 3 of Animal Boy, Maths, a skeleton quiz and a healthy eating art challenge.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullett smileywink

Welcome to Class 3 and Key Stage 2!

Croeso i Class 3 a Chyfnod Allweddol 2!

It is very exciting that you are now in Key Stage 2!  You have had a wonderful first day, settling in and learning the new routines. Wasn't it good to see everyone again? Mrs Westlake and Mrs Mullett are so happy to have you in Class 3. blush

We are so impressed with how you are adapting to our new routines, including different playtime and lunchtime arrangements and remembering when to wash your hands. You are also remembering to keep your distance from those in a different bubble to you. Excellent work, Class 3! yes

Information for the start of term:

  • You will not be taking school reading books home at the moment. Instead there will be home reading for you on Purple Mash which you can access on a computer, laptop or any mobile device/tablet. You will have weekly 'to-dos' which will include chapters of a book to read as well as other homework tasks. Of course, you can read your own books at home too. You should do some reading at home every day, as well as the reading you do in school.

  • Outdoor PE is on Monday. You should wear your trainers to school for this. As you will be spending lots of time outdoors you might want to wear trainers every day.
  • You will be going outside for playtime/the daily mile/fresh air every day, so you must bring a coat to school each day.
  • Our theme for the term is The Human Body. What fascinating Body facts can you find out to share with the class?
  • We are focusing on our multiplication tables this term. Revise the 2x, 5x and 10x tables and begin learning your 3x table.

Well done to you all for settling in so quickly. We look forward to lots of fun and learning as the term progresses.
