Hello Class 5,

I hope you have all had a lovely week. I am sure many of you have been outside enjoying the wonderful weather. Next week is an exciting week, where I will be welcoming many of you back to school. I am sure you are excited as I know I am. It will be lovely to see you all and catch up with all the wonderful things you have been doing at home.

The work this week has mostly the same theme - Stop the Destruction of the Rainforest. Some of the planning that is highlighted in red will be explored further in school with myself. The Art and Science projects are a two week timescale so you do not have to rush to finish this by the end of the week. Please keep sending your work and pictures to me using the email address at the bottom of the page. I hope to be able to create another picture gallery next week with all your wonderful work.

There will be activities to enabling you to engage in a range of activities, to develop your skills and to accept a challenge - I know some of you are having a go at the challenges. As usual some of the activities may be labelled A, B and C or using stars.

“A”  or 1 star are activities/sheets will be a springboard for a new concept,

“B” or 2 stars are activities will follow

“C” or 3 stars will provide a challenge or extended work.

You may need to practise similar questions from “A” or “B” a few times before you are ready to face the “C” challenge work. Mum's and Dad's please continue being fantastic and support your child with any new concepts/activities that may require some adult explanation.

The Additional Resources section is updated regularly and some activities in this section may support your child with various skills whilst they are learning at home. There are a few new apps with regards to spelling that may interest some of you after the planning sheet. I have put them in a word document for you to look at.

Please keep up the good work Class 5, you are amazing and you all should be so proud of yourselves.

Thank you all once again to all  Class 5's parents for your continued support.

I look forward to seeing you sometime soon and next week hearing about your adventures so far this term.

Class Page Information

Hello Class 5,

I hope many of you are managing to stay active whilst at home. I hope you are all staying safe and most importantly listening to your parents. I will upload activities for you to do while you are at home but please be creative with your learning and try learning new skills while you are at home.

Cross-curricular work - Please see attached sheet. I would like you to complete an independent project based on Life in Britain during World War 2. You can create your project in a scrapbook or as a PowerPoint.

Please be active whenever you can. Joe Wicks has a fitness routine every day at 9:00. Let's see how many of Class 5 can follow Joe Wicks next week. I have also included a chance to get outside and design a new game that you can teach others. It has to have a scoring element to it and you can use ANY equipment. See if you can beat your parents.

Numeracy - There are so many creative numeracy lessons you can do with your parents and siblings at home. How about building the tallest Lego tower and working out its volume and area? Or you could help make a cake and be in charge of measuring the ingredients and setting the timer. I have included work for this week if you would like a recap on work completed so far this year. Please see attached sheets.

There will be games on Purple Mash that you can play to revise times table knowledge. Please look in your "To Do" folder. If it is not there please look on Purple Mash and play the games we have played in school this year.

Literacy - The first think I would like you all to do is pick a book. Find time each day to relax and read. It can be with someone else or simply by yourself.  When you finish your book, I would like you to write a review of it using the sheets provided. You can either type a review on the computer or use lined paper at home. I have included a comprehension pack that you can split up and attempt over the course of a few days.

I have included a rapid write and I can not wait to read the stories you create from the picture I have included.

I would like all pupils to explore the spelling pattern "ious". I want you to see how many spelling words you can find. Pick 10 and learn them and write sentences with them like you have done all year.

I hope that you can follow this but if there are any problems please get in touch. I will try to reply when I can. My email is Husseyr3@hwbcymru.net

I have set up a flip grid for you all. The code is hussey1038. I look forward to seeing your videos and you telling me how creative you have been at home learning. You can record messages about the kind of activities you have been doing.

Lastly, I want to say how special and creative you all are. I shall miss teaching you  but hope to see your progress from emails and flip grid messages, and hopefully we will all be back together soon.

Keep well and have lots of fun learning,

Mrs Hussey

Parents feel free to be creative and look beyond the sheets I place on this website.

Bore Da Class 5,

This will be the first place you look for tasks and activities that I will be setting you when the school closes. I hope you are all able to view this page easily.

Many thanks,

Mrs Hussey

Our Christmas Show

Hello and welcome to Class 5.

I hope you have all had a wonderful Summer holiday and you are all looking forward to the new school year.  This year is all about building on the knowledge you have gained from Class 4 and become more independent with your learning.

This term we will be looking at Space and everything relating to our solar system and beyond. Unfortunately we can not visit Space or have a ride in a rocket but we will be going on an exciting trip that will allow you to feel that you are in Space.

Things for you to remember:

- Reading books are to be brought in everyday and parents need to sign to say you have been reading at home - even if it is on your own!

- Homework will be given on Wednesday and it does not have to be until Tuesday. You will usually have spelling homework every week. Every two to three weeks you will have numeracy homework or topic research.

- Indoor PE is on a Monday and you will need to ensure you have shorts and a t-shirt in school. Games is on a Thursday and you will need to have shorts, t-shirts, trainers and joggers( for when the weather gets colder).

- You can bring pencil cases to school but they must be small and fit easily into trays provided.

I hope you are all ready to start this new year. There are lots of fun activities planned for those who work hard and try their best.

Thank you for your continued support parents. Any problems please do not hesitate to come and see me.

Thank you,

Mrs Hussey
