Reception: Miss Hogg

Autumn 2022 Overview - Reception

Hello and welcome to Reception's 22/23 class page!

My name is Miss Hogg. Mrs Sims and I are looking forward to an exciting year in reception!

Our first topic is going to be 'Cynefin'. This is a Welsh word that means a place where you should be, where everything around you feels right and welcoming. We will be learning lots about ourselves, our communities and the local area!

I will be posting updates on the class TEAMS page (which will be set up very soon!) I will leave instructions on this page on how to access this, once the team is set up and ready to go!

Your child's PE days will be Tuesday and Friday, so please send them to school in their PE clothing (i.e. trainers, shorts/joggers/leggings and the blue school polo shirt).

The children have been enjoying their snacks before playtime, so please continue to send fruit/vegetables and a bottle of water in to school. Could you kindly ensure that anything you send to school is labelled with your child's name, including jumpers, cardigans, bags, lunch boxes, bottles and snack pots - this will help us to locate any lost items.

Please make sure you have completed the collection form (or emailed the school office) with collection arrangements, so that we recognise and are aware of who is picking up your child each day.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email me at hoggk7@hwbcymru.net, where I'll be happy to help where I can. smiley

Many thanks for your welcome and support so far!

Miss Hogg and Mrs Sims.

Making Jack and the Giant out of recycling and construction

Planting Sunflower seeds

This term our theme is called “Its Story Time!” We began the theme by reading the story “What’s This?”

We talked about what a seed needs to grow and planted sunflower seeds. We are all enjoying watching the seeds grow.

This week we have listened to the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ we enjoyed retelling the story through movement and we loved playing musical instruments too. We made models of Jack and the Giant using construction toys and recycling materials. We have learned to name parts of a flower -flower, stem, leaf, roots, bud. We are looking forward to reading lots more stories and learning through our investigations.

Happy Halloween

Welcome to Reception Class this Autumn Term. We have enjoyed our time in class so far, learning the routine, making new friends and seeing familiar faces. We have taken part in lots of activities inside and outside our new classroom (photos to follow soon)

Please remember to label all your child's clothes, please help him/her to learn to put on his/her coat independently.

PE will be outdoors on Wednesdays.  Please dress your child in joggers, tshirt, sweatshirt and trainers ready for the day.

We encourage children to have a healthy snack ie fruit or vegtable at snack time.
